My last few weekends have been chock full of fun. I’ve taken photos of them all, but if I were to upload all of them at once, I’d take down all your servers in a single swipe.
So I’ll be posting them this week in reverse chronological order.
Can you feel the heat?
Last week, James’ mom came to visit. I’d been stressed about it, as this was her first visit to our house since we’d married and I had stolen her son away. But it turns out, ’twas nothing.
We rode the Napa Valley Wine Train, something I’d wanted to do for some time. This is an excellent activity to do with your parents, even if they’re not drinkers. It includes a meal and two tastes of wine, but be aware people, bring your ducats, for you must buy your wine separately.
I made friends with the wine pourer and scored a few fun facts, but that is besides the point, isn’t it?
In the picture below we sit for initial drinks (10:30 am baby) and chatting while we wait to be seated for lunch. Um, that’s not us in the picture, that would be two nice boys.

After chatting, we are seated for lunch.

Here, here! I want to order the lobster! Here! Over here!

James bucks tradition and orders a bloody mary.

I was so looking forward to my salad, one with juicy beets and spiced walnuts and goat cheese and all the things that make salads in the Napa Valley in wintertime special.

And it was totally worth it.
Vegetables! Catch the fever!

James took this photo from the train, rock it, this is where we live.

Upcoming will be photos from James’ 31 bowling birthday party, and my trip to Green Bay.
Have you been to wine country this time of year? It’s absolutelyfreaking gorgeous, there are virtually no tourists to be had and the mustard blossoms are in bloom.
Yay! Januaryspring!

Lovely! It makes me wish I was there. I love Napa. I love wine. I think this trip is a must.
My husband and I spent a few days at the Carneros Inn last January. It was absolutely heavenly. Gorgeous weather. No crowds. Good times!
beautiful.
and are those *yellow* beets in your salad??
i’m jealous.
Going to Napa for the first time in late February! Will I still beat the crowds?
