Party: EVO Conference

I’ve just left the EVO Conference, a conference about the evolution of social media, especially for ladies.

Both the Girls
I left the ladies for a hot minute to grab some grownup time. Man it felt good.

Because I’ve been writing so long on the internet, I think I’ve developed a few tricks to keep content fresh, relevant and traffic generating. I spoke about these at my food blogging panel with Jane from This Week for Dinner, Stephanie from AllRecipes.com and Helene from Sweet Tartlette.

Ready? Let’s go!

5. Make it pretty.
Hire a designer, find someone to help photograph your events.
You’re more likely to continue blogging if you love the look of what you’re updating.

4. Keep a notebook.
Not only to remember lightning bugs of inspiration, but to note what makes others’ faces light up.

3. Fail better.
Finding one’s voice means failing better, time and time again.
Don’t be afraid of failure, actively seek it.

2. If you don’t ASK, you don’t GET
Oprah says that luck is when opportunity meets preparation. Stack the deck in your favor by giving yourself lots of opportunity.

1. It’s all for the love, yo
If you don’t love it, your readers will smell it from miles away.
Document your love!
